Hey All!
As a few
of you know, on Saturday some of the southern shandy drinkers
Posse (or Massive innit!), went on a small expedition to the Charrington
Bowl in Tolworth.
Ok yes I tried to organise it by getting feed back from everyone
in
advance, but due to the usual difficulties of trying to organise
things for a group of people and OH YES a little matter of Smartgroups
being .. erm not so smart, it all had to be done through phoning
round guessing who was in the south and sending some off list emails.
Sorry to anyone I missed! Please make yourself known as we have
some future plans for other events!
So
after the usual hassles of trying to mobilise a small army of Lemmings,
places were booked at the ally (which was a bit ambitious) for 12
and due to some last minute entries we filled all the places. Start
was Scheduled for 7 p.m. and as the fashionable late brigade arrived
(admittedly only 15 mins late) we were greeted by the usual SUKBOG
'well you weren't here so we went to the bar to get a drink'. A
glance into the crowd revealed a TC, Mup, Sash, Adrian, Alex, Malc,
Twirly, Pat, Tabby, Trev and Rachel (Trevs sister on her Kawa jingly
wotsit). Shifting the BOGers from the bar to get their funky foot
wear was actually the most difficult manoeuvre of the night. With
us split into groups of 6 and our names on the score sheets we were
finally ready to commence, the first thing that told you we were
in for a good old laugh was Tabbys copyright 'bum in air and bowl
through the legs' first bowl.
While
waiting for my go I learned that a few BOGers were actually closet
champion bowlers, not to be out classed everyone put their hearts
into it! Pat (pretty damn good bowler and winner of the 1st round)
was first to get a strike! Malc showed us that the road was not
the only place to get your knee down and Sash exhibited grace as
he slipped over (only once) on ball
release. Alex was convinced he could volley the ball at the pins.
Mup
was part time bowling to fill in the spaces between taking Photos
(as always Mup thank you for doing that catching all those moments
on Film). These mentioned are but a few of the efforts made by all
involved throughout the 3 games of
complete mayhem only paused briefly while trips to the bar were
undertaken (We thought we lost you TC).
So
as Strike followed bowl followed gutter, everyone had their moments
of shame and glory but one consistent feeling was the enjoyment!
Cheers, laughs
and celebratory dances made for a good night! On completion of the
games Malc and Twirly extended their hand of hospitality to all
for a return to theirs (much appreciated), some had to call it a
night and disappeared off home.
The
rest of us returned to Malc and twirlys for grub followed by talk
of politics and trivia pursuit (hmm
yeah right!). Nattering and giggles till little hours of the morning
for all
(except Mup who talking some encoded language something about sheep
and coffee ???) We were even treated to some of Sashs Hurricane
Snoozing! TC's usual wit was also there after a few and Trev brought
his case of booze!
A
great finish to a great night! Thanks all for the turnout! especially
those who were unwell and last minute entries. Pat and Rachel
Mup
and I will have some photos soon,
cheers
all
Joe
